The Pat Hall Music Educator Advocate Award recognizes a person who has demonstrated exceptional visible support and advocacy for music and the arts in North Carolina. The award will be made to a person who has exemplified the following criteria:

• Personal attitude, actions and philosophy
• Visible success in improving the general status of the arts in North Carolina
• Leadership in the arts
• Effective advocacy for music education and the other arts
